An exciting new project completed!

Published about 1 month ago • 2 min read

Hello, friends!

We are enjoying our time on the Historic South cruises. It's warm and lovely here as we visit ports of call such as Savannah, GA and Beaufort, SC. We will be here for one more cruise and the shift back over to the Lower Mississippi River. What a way to spend the springtime!

HISTORY HIGHLIGHT: The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act designates March 29 of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. March 29, 1973 was the day United States Military Assistance Command in Vietnam was disestablished and also the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. We want to take a moment to recognize and thank our Vietnam Veterans for their service to our country.

We are excited to share with you a new project that we have completed and launched for American Cruise Lines. It's an Onboard Enrichment Guide of the Lower Mississippi River and we think it's pretty nifty! Guests onboard can now enjoy print and online materials that highlight sites and topics of interest along the cruise. The online materials include audio features that are written, narrated, and produced by us! In the coming weeks, we'll share with you a few of these. For example, here's a snippet about the Mississippi River:

An Introduction to the Mississippi River – The Mississippi River stretches 2,350 miles from Lake Itasca in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way, it drains 1.2 million square miles of land stretching from the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachian Mountains. The river and its tributaries provided a vital corridor for exploration and expansion during the 1800s. By the late 1800s, thousands of steamboats traveled the rivers, fueling the country’s growth and development. Today, towboats move about 500 million tons of cargo annually. The Mississippi River remains the major transportation artery in America for agriculture and industry and it is diverse in its cultural and environmental significance. As Mark Twain eloquently described: “The Mississippi is well worth reading about. It is not a commonplace river, but on the contrary is in all ways remarkable.”

We shared a sample of our our expanded audio feature about the Mississippi River with our Member Supporters. For a limited time, you can enjoy the feature by CLICKING HERE. Try a free trial of our Member Supporter curated content to enjoy the entire collection in the coming weeks. If you have a moment, please check out our History Video Streaming Service and Member Supporter website. Both sites have free trials and they are the support system that keeps us afloat!

You can also CLICK HERE to learn about all the many ways you can enjoy and support our endeavors.

NOVEL UPDATE - After reviewing our query, a literary agency has requested to review the full manuscript of Bill's historical novel: "Roosevelt's Last Gamble." It's just a nibble, but why not put out positive vibes! Fingers crossed and stay tuned.

We are so grateful for our followers, readers, supporters, and traveling companions. We love this career and are thankful for your enthusiasm and support.

All the best,

Laura & Bill

Hello, everyone! We are wrapping up our time on the mighty Mississippi River. It has been a wonderful two months of cruising as we've bounced between the lower Mississippi and the east coast. We've met so many terrific people and reconnected with friends. Now it's time for a break to visit family and home for a couple of weeks before heading to cruises along the Columbia and Snake Rivers. As we depart this region, we thought we would share offerings this weekend that are connected to the...
